Default Preliminary Breaking News: Low Level Inter-Ethnic Warfare Erupted in FYROM

After appeals by Islamic Community Leadership (which itself is regionally and otherwise disunited on the issue), and several partial destruction of public object as well as vandalization of one Church with graffiti - all of it near Struga, in proximity of which is the village of Vevčani, inter-Albanian party massive physical assault erupted, while 1000's of Albanian hyper-nationalist from Republic of Albania shall arrive tomorrow morning to protest the desecration of Qur'an.

On dozen of instances, conclusive to c. 2 hours physical assault on police officers as well as, as of now, victimless exchange of fire has been reported in and around Struga. All major media houses are fortifying their presence in the area.

DUI leadership issues public announcements to Albanians to respect public order. Police in several South-East municipalities declared full emergency and mobilization of local reserve force. Also, the major links from Tetovo, Gostivar towards Struga have police check-points placed approx. at noon in order to prevent the announcement rally of Albanians of the North-West to South-West. Plenty of extremist, some of them that may be considered of authority to command masses, announced leveling of Vevčani to the ground.

Well, those idiots from Vevcani were looking for trouble. They should have expected such a wrathful Albanian reaction, given that Albanians have been waiting "with the finger in the trigger" for such a provocation over the last decade.

PS. the aforementioned graffiti on the Temple of St. Nicholas in Struga, states: "Kauri, samo smrt za vas" ("Infidels, only death [is fit] for you").

Macedonia Muslims urge restraint over carnival

SKOPJE, Macedonia - (AP) -- Muslim leaders in Macedonia appealed for calm on Monday among community members outraged over a carnival in which Orthodox Christian men mocked Muslims by dressing as Burqa-clad women.

The incident at the Jan. 13 Vevcani festival has prompted angry, sometimes violent demonstrations by Muslims, who make up 33 percent of the country's 2.1 million population and accuse the majority of stoking hatred against them.

On Saturday, some protesters attacked buses and defaced a Macedonian flag and replaced it with a green flag to represent Islam. On the same day, a church was attacked by unknown perpetrators in the nearby village of Labunista.

In a statement Monday, Macedonian Muslim leaders called for restraint but also accused the government of promoting Islamophobia.

"The behavior of Muslims should be restrained, but, unfortunately, we are concerned that Islamophobia in Macedonia is often combined with government propaganda," they said. "Such is the case with this carnival that the government annually subsidizes with...the money of all citizens, including Muslims."

The carnival, said to have been held for some 1,400 years, attracts thousands of visitors. Local resident traditionally wear elaborate, frequently sarcastic masks, with some of the most common costumes including devils and demons.

Muslims in Macedonia are almost all ethnic Albanians. Albanians, in Macedonia and elsewhere, have traditionally been secular, but conservative Islamic schools, especially Wahhabism, have taken a foothold in the years following a brief ethnic Albanian uprising in Macedonia in 2001. This spread has been mainly financed from Saudi Arabia.

BREAKING NEWS (22.10 hrs in Skopje): the Church in the village of Labuništa-Labunište has been completely burned to ground, as confirmed by FYROM MOI-Police.

This, my friends, is point of no return. Several mosques, islamic objects (i.e. libraries) as well as common property belonging to Albanians, almost certainly in places where Albanians and other Muslims are in one-digit percentage shall be also partially or completely destroyed. This is a chain-reaction, dynamic slippery-slope. With risk to loose prestige in our circle, I think that small mobile units warfare against police and to lesser extent military targets shall start 72-100 hours from now, reprisals by FYROMians (mob action) from early morning local time, first casualties in low numbers and due to sporadic personal initiative in the next 24-80 hrs, while systematic mobilization of Albanians guerrilla shall start 4-10 days from now (with first methodical assault with personal infantry, light artillery, portable antitank weaponry and hand grenades will start 6 days from now, to reach a plateau in 14-20 days).

Proclamation of State of War by Parliament of FYROM, should this scenario unfold, may be anticipated 20-28 days from today.

Urban warfare shall be concentrated in Tetovo exclusively, fully classifiable as such, while Gostivar, Debar, Kičevo, Skoplje and Kumanovo shall be exposed to micro-neighborhood exclusively police interventions vs-a-vis sabotage and diversion attacks. In 3 weeks to one month, the order of battle in terms of number of forces, territories with free Albanian, under battle, under occasional low-level terrorist atacks as well as those clean of any hostilities (70-80% of territory, including the modern part of Skoplje, on the right bank of Vardar) shall be known and kept steady for several weeks.

VKDN67, as we both lived in state engulfed with civil war, do you think that what is happening in last 72, especially last 15 hrs in FYROM is initiation into escalation to a full-fledged Civil war based on ethnicity and religion, with asymmetrical warfare likely of heavier intensity that the war in FYROM in 2001? Do you think that, as it stands now, the situation is reversible by means of internal diplomacy among main parties or outside diplomatic pressure? What is your prognosis, is this the irreversible in terms of fast exponential growth of spiral that is out of control, demarcation and warfare after re-mobilization of UCK and FYROM's police and armed forces??

"internal diplomacy" is something I learned last 2 decades in such countries dont exist. Will be what Big Brother decide.
What is result of 2001. ONA action in FYRM? Burned Serbian villages and churches. What changed for decade? Few days ago there were news about Turkish partnership and investment. Did USA left Turkey as instrument for influence in South-East Europe? I think no. FYRM is not on "south stream" pipeline route, but is too close. Month ago we talked about "Bondsteel". Another "Bondsteel" near Skoplje, 200 km from Niš? Monument to Obama in Skoplje, same as Clinton in Priština?
This part of Balkan is still divided on Ottoman vilayets, Skoplje is definitely in Kosovo vilayet. That is why I felt hate in Skoplje and sympathy from Bitola citizen. Bitola is another vilayet.

Skopje. The inter-ethnic tension in Struga reached its climax over the last few days, when the Macedonian flag was set on fire and buses were attacked, Macedonian Utrnski Vesnik daily writes.
The incidents started after the Islamic religious community in Macedonia reacted over the carnival in Vevcani, where there were women wearing burkas among the masked people.
The Islamic religious community organised a protest in front of the municipality. The demonstrators took out the Macedonian flag and replaced it with the Albanian and a green flag with Islamic text.
The protesters scanned “Die giaours!” and “Down with the Vevcani!”
According to latest data, there was an attack at the church in the village of Borovec. The four-meter cross in church’s yard was violated. Unknown people have broken the windows of the Meniks polyclinic in Labuniste.
Police and the municipal authorities said that the perpetrators will be detained and punished.
