Greece - 18
Hungary - 5
Turkey - 4
Iceland - 3
Albania - 1
Cyprus - 1
Germany - 1
Italy - 1
Luxembourg - 1

Interestingly enough Cyprus isn't even a member of NATO, surely someone from NATO would know that? List of NATO countries:
If FYROM spent the same amount of time and money bypassing the dispute and lobbying to get into NATO than they did on the name issue it'd be resolved by now. At least some lobbyists in Washington cashed in FYROM's money.

Serbians' crimes against humanity

Yes, there are many reasons to be concerned about Muslim culture, but not about the religion itself. As Europeans our culture is markedly different which is reflective in what we are as a people. But in one misguided person's effort do deny Serbian's culpability for Crimes against Humanity we Greeks here in this forum give him support with our writings.

The Turks deny their crimes against humanity in the genocide of 1 Million Arminians so if a Turk were to sign on and deny that genocide would we Greek support this new user's post? That is what we are doing with this Serbian user. Why would that be so? Is it because Serbians are Orthodox and that we have a historic alliance? If so than the cost is too great and as friends we should help them to see the facts as hard as they may be to accept for them.

So I started this thread, while I know that the Serbian that I write about is busily destroying the thread I have worked on for so long with his posts of denials and theories of some kind of conspiracy of George Sorros and that the name dispute is a NATO Muslim scheme. As an exercise to help his Serbian see what his people are culpable for I will focus this thread on the history of the war crime committed by Serbians and the war crimes trial of Ratko Mladić.

Firstly this is the definition of "Crimes Against Humanity"
In July 1995, troops commanded by Mladić, harried by NATO air strikes intended to force compliance with a UN ultimatum to remove heavy weapons from the Sarajevo area, overran and occupied the UN safe areas of Srebrenica and Žepa. At Srebrenica over 40,000 Bosniaks who had sought safety there were expelled. An estimated 8,300 were murdered, allegedly on Mladić's order. In November 1995, when Judge Fouad Riad indicted Mladić of genocide in Srebrenica at the war crimes tribunal in The Hague (ICTY), he stated that the events were "Truly scenes from hell, written on the darkest pages of human history".

The Srebrenica massacre, also known as the Srebrenica genocide, refers to the July 1995 killing, during the Bosnian War, of more than 8,000 Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by units of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladić. The mass murder was described by the Secretary-General of the United Nations as the worst crime on European soil since the Second World War. A paramilitary unit from Serbia known as the Scorpions, officially part of the Serbian Interior Ministry until 1991, participated in the massacre and it is alleged that foreign volunteers including the Greek Volunteer Guard also participated.

The Greek Volunteer Guard (Serbian: Grčka Dobrovoljačka Garda, Greek: Ελληνική Εθελοντική Φρουρά) was a unit of Greek volunteers that fought in the Bosnian War on the side of Bosnian Serbs. Members of the unit participated in the Srebrenica Massacre and reportedly hoisted a Greek flag over the town on Ratko Mladić's instigation.

In the Ingeborg Beugel’s documentary "The Greek way" by Dutch public broadcaster IKON, investigating Greek complicity with Serbia in the Bosnian war, a director of the semi-official Athens News Agency, Nikolas Voulelis, admitted to widespread censorship. The Greek media had been fanatically pro-Serb during the wars, portraying Yugoslav Muslims as "infidel Turks" bent on destroying their Orthodox brethren. Voulelis said that "Editorial interference was a given."

In 2005 Greek deputy Andreas Andrianopoulos called for an investigation. On 10 July 2005, 163 Greek academics, journalists and political activists issued a call for Greece to officially apologise to the victims of Srebrenica for the Greek role in the atrocity. After asserting that Greek public opinion had been misinformed about the alliance with the Milosevic regime, their statement called for the Greek state to apologise publicly to the families of the 8,000 slaughtered, to indict the Greek ‘volunteers' who had fought in Bosnia alongside Karadzic and Mladic and dishonoured the Greek flag by raising it over the carnage at Srebrenica, and to pursue the 'supposedly unknown' people who manipulated them.

Following his arrest, Mladić appeared before the Belgrade Higher Court for a hearing on whether he was fit to be extradited to the Hague. Judge Milan Dilparić suspended interrogation due to his poor health. Mladić's lawyer Miloš Šaljić said that his poor health prevented him from properly communicating. He was allegedly unable to confirm his personal data, but attempted to talk to the prosecutors on several occasions, especially to Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekarić. However, the court ruled that he was fit to be extradited on 27 May. According to the Serbian Health Ministry, a team of prison doctors described his health as stable following checkups. Mladić was also visited in prison by Health Minister Zoran Stanković, a former friend.

Jauntily applauding his war crimes judges and giving them a thumbs up, Ratko Mladic showed he had lost none of the swagger of the soldier who stands accused of masterminding Europe's most horrific killing spree in modern times. Nor did the man once dubbed the "Butcher of Bosnia" and the "Beast of the Balkans" show any remorse: catching the eye of a woman in the audience — a survivor of the massacre he is accused of ordering in Srebrenica — Mladic ran his hand across his throat. The throat-cutting gesture prompted presiding judge Alphons Orie to hold a brief recess and order an end to "inappropriate interactions."
This was just the first day of Mladic's trial at the United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague. Mladic, who led the Bosnian Serbian army during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia, is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica in 1995. Now nearly 70, he spent 15 years on the run in Serbia before being captured by Serb special forces last May. He is also charged with orchestrating the 44-month siege of Bosnia's capital Sarajevo, during which an estimated 12,000 people died.

Most Slavs of Macedonia and FYROM selfidentified as Bulgarians in late 19th century. This is the only safe conclusion one would draw, after reading few pages of Spiridon Gopchevich's "Makedonien und Alt Serbien" (Macedonia and Old Serbia,1889),considering that Gopchevich had no reason to lie and present the Macedonian Slavs self-identifying as Bulgarians (On the contrary,he sees everywhere in Macedonia Serbs instead of Bulgarians since he considers all Macedonian Slavs as Serbs and throughout his work he argues with those self-declared Bulgarians that they are actually Bulgarized Serbs and their language is much closer to Serbian than Bulgarian)

Gopchevich made actually a tour of the three Ottoman villaets of Salonika,Monastir and Skopje accompanied by a Bulgarian called Petrov,in order to study the language, costums and folklore of the Macedonian Slavs and determine their ethnicity. In the folowing abstract,he has met in Salonica some Slav speaking peasants and asks them where they are from. They answer from Paisanovo,a village of 6500 inhabitants some 10 km norteastern of Salonica and Gopchevich expresses his astonishment why such a big village is not mentioned in his map.A villager replies it might be written with its Turkish name,Kirec Kioy (and there was also a Greek name for that village,Asvestohori,as you can see in that Austrohungarian map from 1904 below, since its population was mixed).

An article of Bulgarian wiki on Asvestohori/Paesanovo/Kirec Kioy:
http://bg.wikipedia.org/wiki/Пейзаново

-6.500 inhabitants? That would be a quite big town?Shoudn't my map have it depicted?
I dragged my military map in front of him.
-Maybe it's shown with the Turkish name Kirec Kioy, remarked the peasant.
(Indeed I found a small village Kirec Kioy depicted)
-There is only a small village Paizanovo mentioned.Do you really have 6.500 inhabitants?
-Of course! There are 2750 citizens obligated to pay taxes in more than 700 houses!
-And they are all Serbs like you?
-Serbs like us?
-Well,are you not talking in Serbian with me?
-Bogami,ne znam!Mi govorimo Bugarski!(For God's sake,I don't know!We speak "Bugarski"!
-Bugarski-to mozhe biti, ali ne Bolgarski, shto je jedan drugi jezik.("Bugarski"-it can be,but not "Bolgarski" [Bulgarian],which is an entirely different language.)
All starred puzzled at me.
-So what kind of people are you?
-Pa,Bugari (Well,Bulgarians).
-Do you know that we Serbs call the inhabitants of the Bulgarian principallity by the name "Bugari" while they call themselves "Bolgari"?
-We don't!
-Yes,yes:so according to this you also speak Serbian, and since in Serbian the Bulgarian is called "Bugarin",that's how you declare yourselves Bulgarians. However that's an absurdity!...Do you feast the Krsno ime (he means the Serbian feast of "Slava") ?
-Of course!

Now Gopchevich is wandering with Petrov in the streets of Salonica,in search of Slavic-speaking inhabitants,so that they examine their language whether it's closer to Bulgarian or Serbian.Petrov had already introduced him the day before to an inhabitant of Salonica who spoke exactly the same form of Bulgarian that was spoken in Bulgaria, however he turned out to be the son of a Bulgarian merchant from Plovdiv and furthermore he had studied in the Bulgarian school of Constantinople,so they have to find other Slavic-speaking people

We were wandering for a long time in the narrow streets of Salonica without hearing other languages than Turkish,Greek,Spanish,French and Italian. Then appeared before us two men dressed with "Frankish clothes" (he means in West European fashion) and one told the other:
-Boga mi ne znam, zashto ne verujesh?(Oh my God,I don't know why you don't believe me!)
-Stop,I said to Petrov, here we have fellow countrymen!Let's talk to them! And so we did.

We got soon acquainted. One of the strangers was a merchant from Tetovo, the other a Thessalonian. The former spoke only Serbian, the later both Serbian and Bulgarian.
Before Petrov intervened,I had asked the Thessalonian where did he learn Serbian.
-Serbian?asked he embarrassed.So I speak Serbian?
-What else?
-Pa Bugarski!(In Bulgarian).
-And you?(I turned to the man from Tetovo).
-Pa takogjer bugarski!(Well,Bulgarian too!)
-Allow me,you are speaking right now Serbian, since a Bulgarian would say "takshe" or "s'shto Bolgarski".
-Oh,that's not a big deal.We Macedonians don't speak in the same way as they speak in the principallity of Bulgaria.
-I have noticed it!You speak as people in the kingdom of Serbia speak!
-Hm,it's not exactly the same, remarked the Thessalonian. There are certain dialectical differences.
-What,some differences!said Petrov in Bulgarian. You are really not going to claim that there is spoken here a Serbian dialect?
As the Thessalonian saw a real Bulgarian in front of him,he overcame his embarrassment and answered, also in Bulgarian:
-I only mean, that Macedonian is dialectically separated from Bulgarian.
-Now you are speaking pure Bulgarian,I remarked. So what's your own native language?
-Hm,I've learnt so pure Bulgarian in the schools here.Otherwise, there is spoken here a very corrupt dialect.
-What kind of dialect?
-It's the same which I spoke before to you and my friend. He is from Tetovo and has not attended Bulgarian school, therefore he doesn't understand well the Bulgarian literary language.I have to talk to him in the colloquial dialect.
-All right.This "colloquial dialect",however,is nothing but Serbian!Mr.Petrov,be sincere:am I right or not?
-Well,replied Petrov clearing his throat embarrassed,I won't lie that this colloquial dialect is rather different from the Bulgarian literary language, however it seems to me it's equally different from Serbian.
-Oh no,I won't claim both these gentlemen speak according to the literary languages, even if the one from Tetovo speaks nothing but Serbian,as you can hear it spoken in Vranja or Prizren, and although different the dialect of Salonica is much closer to Serbian than Bulgarian.

Now watch this below,Gopchevich gives a small lesson on the history of Salonica to his company and pay attention to the astonishment of the merchant from Tetovo, because "Salonica was never a Slavic city"!!!It seems Fyromians have a long tradition in misinterpreting history!

Gopchevich asks the Bulgarian from Salonica how many Slavs live in Salonica and if all of them feast the Slava, because Slava is a Serbian religious feast and apparently he considers all those that feast it as Serbs. Then Petrov complains.

-Bulgaria has in any case historical rights on Salonica!said Petrov in an evasive manner.
-Why?Salonica was never in Bulgarian hands. In the years 551,597,676,678,685-87 it was besieged by the Serbs (Here Gopchevich has obviously transformed to Serbs all Slavic tribes that had settled in the Western and Southern part of the Balkans and besieged Salonica at times),in the year 996 Byzantines were here defeated by the Macedonian king Samouil (now it suits Gopchevich to transform Samouil to "Macedonian"!),in 1207 the Bulgarian Tsar Kalojan besieged the city, but they never managed to detach Salonica from the Byzantines. This happened first in 1222 by Prince Theodoros of Epirus and in 1325 by Andronikos the younger,in 1349 the Serbs besieged Salonica once again but without success.Salonica was first lost for the Greeks to the Turks in 1429.
-So Salonica was never a Slavic city?asked me the man from Tetovo astonished.
-No.In the year 315 BC Kassandros founded on the remnants of the older town Therma a city called Thessaloniki in honour of his wife, which fell in Roman hands in 148 BC,and became famous in church history through Apostle Paul who established here a Christian community,to which he sent later two letters.
-Yes,yes,there is still shown in the church of the Apostles the stone on which Paul stood when preaching.
-Also if historical rights had any validity, only Greeks would possess such.
-But historical rights are no more valid nowadays, answered Petrov.

Below they are in soil of modern FYROM travelling from Gradsko to Raklje and Gopchevich finds a chance to piss off his Bulgarian companion claiming that even "shopski",a West Bulgarian dialect spoken in Sofia is actually Serbian :

During our stay we talked to the occupants of the han (turkish term for a kind of motel in Ottoman time) who declared themselves "Turks",but obviously were just Islamicized Serbs, because besides Turkish they also spoke fluently Serbian.Petrov was much concerned about that situation, however soon his eye lit up,when our coachman narrated that he was a Turk from Sofia who had migrated in 1878.
-Then you maybe speak Bulgarian?asked he hastily.
-Of course!You certainly hear it!
Petrov exchanged with me a quick glance.I smiled and said:
-The coachman means,Bulgarian is what he is speaking right now with you, while he,as a native of Sofia, speaks only "shopski",which is a Serbian dialect as well!

Now Gopchevich and Petrov are in the region of Morihovo, near Bitola

They were all "Bugari" from Morihovo, though they spoke Serbian and feasted the "krsno ime" (the Serbian feast of Slava) so they shoud be considered as Serbs by Petrov who can hardly understand them. They told us that the whole countryside of Morihovo is exclusively inhabited by Orthodox Serbs ("Bugari") who live there obviously unmixed with Turks and without being harassed by them.....
Petrov spoke Bulgarian to them, however they didn't understand him, instead they laughed at him. This certainly amused me and I asked the women in Serbian whether they were Bulgarian or not.
-Of course we are, sounded their answer loudly.
-Then I can't get it,that you don't understand my friend! He is a real Bulgarian too!
The women looked at Petrov astonished, but issued their verdict shooking their heads:
-You are not a Bulgarian!Perhaps you are a Russian.
Petrov, whose face had already changed many colours, shouted outraged and recklessly:

-I am a better Bulgarian than you!
As soon as I interpreted this to the women, the laughters were renewed, and one asked:
-If the gentleman is a Bulgarian, then why isn't he speaking Bulgarian?
-But he has certainly spoken in Bulgarian, however you didn't understand him. That's because you don't understand Bulgarian.
-What's that? Why don't we understand him?You speak nearly the same good Bulgarian like us!
-I've spoken to you only in Serbian so far,I replied laughing. If you also find that I speak "almost the same good" like you, that means nothing else than your speech is Serbian and not Bulgarian.
-Haha,the joker, laughed the women. He wants to tease us!
-No way!I sincerely explained.Do you feast the krsno ime?
-Of course!
-Then things are clear!...Petrov,are these people Serbs or Bulgarians?
Petrov was silent and frown. After a while he burst out:
-These are silly women, whom one can't take seriously.By the way,the Muslims are likewise Pomaks.

Greeks are tired, angry and broke because liquidity is squeezed. And because the structural problems that have generated the economic crisis in Greece are still present.
Greeks are not convinced about the Merkozy medicine.
Also Greeks are ungry with the Germans officials, Troika employess as regards theirs blackmails and theirs interventions in the elections.

The elections seem to be about austerity versus growth discipline.
This is a discipline very much promoted (seemingly) punitively by the European partners, especially those of the north.

The question, however, should not be who is right or wrong or who should be punished or who should not.
The real question is how to create the appropriate structural policies and reforms to make the Greek economy productive and competitive.

This general environment pressured Greece to internal disarray, leading the country to early elections (a whole year and a half earlier), throwing it into a debate over the wrong issues -- austerity versus non-austerity, Troika versus non-Troika; ultimately falling in the trap of populism versus promoting a deeper understanding of how to achieve higher productivity.

Saying NO to the austerian idiocy bringing Europe down is a prerequisite not only for ending the Crisis but also for basic liberties.
